Weakened Sandy Remains A Hurricane As It Inches Up East Coast
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Hurricane Sandy has weakened to a minimal hurricane and warnings for Florida have been scaled back.
At 11 p.m., Sandy was about 90 miles north of Great Abaco Island or about 395 miles south-southeast of Charleston, S.C.
The storm had maximum sustained winds of 75 mph and was moving north at 7 mph.
A Tropical Storm Warning continues along Florida's east coast from north of Jupiter Inlet to St. Augustine, South Santee River to Duck, including Pamlico and Albemarle Sound, Great Abaco and Grand Bahama Islands.
A Tropical Storm Watch continues for Savannah Rover to S. Santee River, Florida's east coast from north of St. Augustine to Fernandina Beach, and Bermuda.

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) track calls for Sandy to continue its northward movement Friday evening, turn toward the north-northeast and speed up on Saturday, then turn toward the northeast on Sunday.
Based on that forecast track, the center of Sandy will move away from the northwestern Bahamas Friday night.
