Caron Butler Bought Out, Heat A Possible Destination
MILWAUKEE (CBSMiami) - As has been expected, the Milwaukee Bucks have completed a contract buyout with Caron Butler. Now, the question is will he choose to come to South Florida or head to Oklahoma.
According to Yahoo! Sports, the Oklahoma City Thunder and Miami Heat are the two frontrunners to land Butler once he passes through waivers and becomes a free agent. Yahoo! reported the Spurs and Bulls are also expected to pursue Butler.
While he turns 34 in a few weeks, Butler has developed a solid three-point shot in recent years which will help space the floor for any of the teams.
Butler and Heat superstar Dwyane Wade are friends and Butler has played for the Heat in the past. If Miami signed him, Butler wouldn't be guaranteed minutes, but as a solid veteran, he could earn playing time.
At this stage of his career, Butler may be a defensive liability, but the Heat have shown in the past that it can get the most out of any player it signs during the current championship runs.
