Carnival's Seabourn Brand Moves To Seattle
MIAMI - (CBS4) - The world's largest cruise ship company based in Miami recently announced a move that could impact local jobs.
Carnival Corp. said it would move its luxury Seabourn brand to Seattle – which would provide the company an expected savings of $20 to $25 million per year.
The move would take place over the next several months. However, the number of affected jobs wasn't immediately known.
In a money-saving move, Seabourn will share its headquarters with Carnival's Holland America Line, however, the management teams will remain separate, the company said.
Seabourn President Pamela Conover has decided not to move, but will stay on to help with the transition. Richard Meadows, a Carnival veteran, will be Conover's successor.
Seabourn is Carnival's "ultra-luxury" brand offering cruises on smaller ships. Seabourn has five small ships with a sixth one joining the ship in June.
