MIAMI - Two men were found dead inside a bullet-riddled car that crashed near the Turnpike in southwest Miami-Dade.

The crash, on Quail Roost Drive at SW 113th Avenue, was reported around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday. The grey Mercedes-Benz slammed into a utility pole near the Turnpike overpass and ended up in the intersection.

CBS News Miami's Joe Gorchow said there appeared to be 15 to 20 bullet holes in the passenger side.

"I couldn't imagine them two getting shot because they don't bother nobody," Darryl Collins.

He said he knew the two men killed and is friends with the family who is now grieving.

"The family is not holding up because of the loss. A child, a husband, a father, a grandfather," he said.

Collins can relate to the deep sense of loss. He helps with a local non-profit, Mothers Fighting 4 Justice, an organization dedicated to helping families who lost loved ones to gun violence.

Collins understands the pain, having lost two of his sons to gun violence in 2008 and 2015.

"It's been hard for me every day. Wakeup can't sleep, cry, never going to bring back my child," he said.

Police are working to determine what led to the shooting.
