Captured: Broward Co. Fugitive On 'America's Most Wanted'
LAUDERHILL (CBSMiami) — A Broward County fugitive featured on America's Most Wanted has been captured, after dodging police since January.
Amos Coran Isaac, 27, used a shovel to beat 21-year-old Shamekia Brackins to near-death at a U-Save convenience store in Lauderhill on January 10. After enduring several blows to the head and body, the shovel broke and Brackins escaped the attack alive, according to the arrest warrant.
Isaac has been charged with attempted felony murder.
The BSO fugitive squad searched for the wanted man for months, after interviews with both the victim and the woman who allegedly helped carry out the beating identified Isaac.
Shirlina Denise Cunningham, also known as "Juicy" to the beating victim, told police Isaac hit Brackins after a botched drug deal, according to authorities.
Brackins confirmed the identity of her attacker to investigators while she recovered from her injuries at Broward General Medical Center. Brackins suffered several seizures and numbness to one side of her body because of the assault.
BSO Fugitive Squad got a tip Friday that Isaac was near NW 19th Street and State Road 7 in Lauderhill. Deputies found the man as he walked into a nearby Wendy's.
Isaac ran out of the restaurant as he saw police officers come in, fleeing to a nearby apartment complex in the 4600 block of Northwest 19th Street. Police caught up with Isaac on the second-floor stairwell, arresting him six months after the crime.
He is being held at Broward County jail without bond.
