Canes Fans Pumped For NCAA Tournament Appearance
CORAL GABLES (CBS4) - Now that the Canes are headed to the big dance the question for many devoted fans is: how will we get there?
"As soon as Austin came up we were already looking at flights for our trip over there" said Alex Acorn.
Acorn was among hundreds of UM fans who waited and greeted the team late Sunday night after winning the ACC Championship.
"It was awesome seeing the look on Coach Larranaga's face and the team holding the trophy' said Acorn.
It's a feeling like no other not only for the team and the players but also for the devoted fans who have stuck by their team from the very beginning and feel the ACC title is also theirs.
"We've kind of grown into the spotlight with these guys we've know them and been friends with them even before we were in the national scene so it's been really fun to kind of go on that ride with them" said Tyler Franz, who traveled to Greensboro for the championship game.
Now that the ACC Championship trophy is in the bookstore displayed for all to see it's on to the next big game but the problem for many students is that Austin is 1,352 miles away. If you plan on driving there it will take close to 21 hours and on average $200 in gas one way.
Keep in mind you can always split that cost with several other fans, many who plan on doing just that.
If you prefer to take a bus it will take a little longer and cost about $200 one way but if you don't have the time and don't mind spending more money flying is an option flight from Miami to Austin are starting at $600.
The University of Miami is offering each student one ticket to the game for $75, but say they are not offering transportation this round.
