Canes Add 3, Lose 1 On Defensive Line

CORAL GABLES (CBSMiami) – While the University of Miami spent much of the past week adding players to its defensive line, on Tuesday the school lost a little depth along the line.

According to CBS4 news partner the Miami Herald, defensive end Jalen Grimble has decided to leave UM's program. Gamble was part of UM head coach Al Golden's first recruiting class and was a four-star defensive end, and ranked 20th overall in the nation at that position.

Grimble was rated by Rivals.com as the number one player in the state of Nevada when he was a senior in high school. Grimble played in 15 games over the past two years, but would have been facing a lengthy depth chart taking shape at UM.

The Canes have added Wisconsin defensive end David Gilbert, Butler Community College end Ufomba Kamalu, and Virginia defensive tackle Justin Renfrow in just the last week. Gilbert should be eligible to play immediately if his foot is healthy.
