PALM BEACH COUNTY (CBSMiami) – On the run for 22 years, then captured, Marshals once again need your help to find a fugitive from murder charges in Palm Beach County who is back on the lam.
The Marshals say Donovan Robinson, convicted of a 1984 murder in Palm Beach County, has escaped from jail twice, using fake names, past loopholes in the Palm Beach prisoner booking system, and the compassion of the legal system for a grieving widower. Deputy Marshals say Robinson uses several different names, dates of birth, and social security numbers.
"Each time he gets arrested, he uses a fake name. So before his fingerprints can hit in the system, he's out on bond," says Deputy Marshal Barry Golden. "Donovan Robinson is a very slippery character."
Marshals say they believe Robinson has talked his way out of several misdemeanor arrests since being on the run, thanks to his extensive use of fake identities.
He was charged with murder at a Delray Beach boarding house back in 1984. Two years later, he skipped out on bond and vanished for 22 years. In 2008, Marshals found him hiding out in Miami under a new name.
The next year, a Palm Beach County Judge allowed him out of prison to attend the funeral of his common law wife. "And once again, he doesn't show back up," says Deputy Golden.
Robinson is believed to be in the South Florida area because of his extensive family connections here. He's thought to be working as a day laborer for cash in landscaping businesses.
