Bye Bye Bret
MIAMI (CBS4) – The second tropical storm of the season is heading out to sea.
Tropical Storm Bret formed over the weekend off the coast of the northern Bahamas.
At 11 a.m. on Wednesday it was located about 415 miles south-southeast of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina. The storm's maximum sustained winds were holding at 50 mph as it moved to the northeast at near 9 mph. The storm is not threatening any land masses.
Bret is expected to weaken as it continues on its northeastern trek and could be downgraded to a tropical depression by Friday or over the weekend.
South Florida is slightly ahead of schedule with Bret in the Atlantic. On average, the second named tropical storm occurs around August 1st.
