Bus Fire Snarls Traffic On I-95
NORTH MIAMI-DADE (CBSMiami) – No injuries have been reported after a bus caught fire on I-95.
The driver of the bus said he saw fire coming from the back of the bus around 1:45 p.m. but he just thought a tire had blown. He was able to make it to the right shoulder just south of Ives Dairy Road and safely evacuate everyone on board and their suitcases.
The bus, which was carrying nine passengers, was heading to Miami International Airport from Port Everglades.
At 2 p.m. four southbound lanes of the highway were closed to traffic; only the far left lane was getting through. Traffic was backed up to Pembroke Road. Within hours traffic was back to normal.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
