Burger King To Fall To Third In Burger Wars
MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – It's beginning to look like the King may not be strong enough to fight off a challenge from a pigtailed girl.
Miami-based Burger King has long been the number two fast food burger chain in the country, but change is on the horizon.
The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday morning that Wendy's is expected to pass Burger King in U.S. sales, trailing on McDonald's.
Once Wendy's passes Burger King, it will be the first reordering of the industry's big three since Wendy's appeared on the scene in 1969, according to the Journal.
Wendy's is expected to see a 1.1 percent gain in sales while Burger King is expected to see a 3.9 percent drop in sales, according to the Journal.
Wendy's has a total of 5,883 stores in the U.S. compared with Burger King's 7,264 and McDonald's 14,027.
