Burger King To End Late Night Hours
MIAMI (CBS4) - No more hitting the 'BK Lounge' after midnight for a Whopper and fries.
Burger King's new senior management team has decided that franchise restaurants will no longer be required to stay open until 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
The later hours, which were thoroughly disliked by franchise owners, were originally introduced two years ago to help the burger chain gain ground against their competitors, according to CBS4 news partner The Miami Herald. Franchisees have argued that the hours are not profitable and are potentially unsafe for their employees. In fact, three franchise owners took the company court to try to end the late night hours.
``I'm extremely happy that we went back to the schedule we had two years ago,'' said Ramon Morale, a Miami franchisee and plaintiff in the litigation told the paper. ``People will stop losing money.''
Under the new policy, the restaurants will be open from 6 a.m. to midnight Monday through Saturday and from 7 a.m. to midnight on Sundays.
