One Dead, 2nd Injured In Shooting Outside Miramar Club

MIRAMAR (CBS4) – One person was killed, a second critically injured in a shooting outside a Miramar club.

The shooting happened shortly before 5 a.m. in front of the Stingerz Lounge on Miramar Parkway at U.S. 441. Miramar police sealed off the intersection as they interviewed people who were both inside and outside of the club at the time of the shooting.

In a parking lot adjacent to the club, crime scene tape cordoned off a dark sedan which had bullet holes in the passenger side door and windshield.

"At least one individual, potentially more, may have approached this vehicle and started firing shots," said Miramar police spokeswoman Tania Rues.

Investigators said two men inside the car were targeted by the gunmen after some sort of altercation.  Rues said the person in the passenger seat fled on foot, but died outside of the club.  The driver was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

Nathael Stuart, who was in the clubs, said ducked for cover when he heard the gun shots.

"Twelve, 13, 15 shots and I just kind of got myself under cover," said Stewart, "And then I heard screams.  If it was about a drink or a female, I say it's not really worth it."

Rues confirmed that they detained two people after the shooting but determined they were witnesses and not the gunmen.
