Bucs To Interview Marty Schottenheimer
TAMPA, Fla. (CBSMiami) – The Tampa Bay Buccaneers continue to look for a new head coach to lead the very young roster and may look to a veteran to right the ship for the franchise.
ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported Monday that the Buccaneers will interview Marty Schottenheimer, 68, for the head coaching job. Schottenheimer was last seen patrolling the sidelines of the San Diego Chargers from 2002-2006.
Schottenheimer's last head coaching job was with the Virginia Destroyers of the United Football League.
Marty Schottenheimer would bring an old school feel to the Buccaneers and force the young, immature players on the team to grow up fast, or else.
"Martyball" has been successful getting the Browns, Chiefs, and Chargers all to the playoffs over his career.
The elder Schottenheimer's son, Brian, has also been discussed as a head coaching candidate during the offseason, but the New York Jets expect Brian to stay with the team.
