Bucs' Gerald McCoy Out For Season
TAMPA (CBSMiami.com) – Former number three overall NFL draft pick Gerald McCoy will miss the rest of the season for a second consecutive year.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers officials said Monday that McCoy has a torn right biceps that will keep him out for the second half of the season.
McCoy suffered the injury in the first quarter of Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints. McCoy was making his first appearance in two games after spraining his ankle earlier in the season.
Last season, McCoy missed the final three games of the 2010 campaign after tearing his left bicep.
McCoy's career has been disappointing since the Bucs selected him number three overall in 2010. He has just four sacks in two years with the Bucs.
The player selected just ahead of McCoy, Ndamukong Suh, has led a resurgence in Detroit and become arguably the top defensive tackle in the NFL.
Meanwhile, McCoy will have to wait until next season to see if he can live up to his lofty draft position.
