BSO: Robber Followed Clerk Home From Check Cashing Store
HOLLYWOOD (CBS4) - Broward Sheriff's detectives are trying to find a gunman who they say followed a clerk from a Check Cashing store to her home and robbed her outside her front door.
The clerk -- who did not want to share her name -- shared her frightening experience.
She said she was returning to her apartment in southern Broward in the late afternoon on June 25 when she realized someone was following her up the stairs.
"I saw he had a gun," she said. "He cocked it. He pointed it at my head and repeated 'Purse, phone now.'"
She immediately handed over her purse with $20, a phone and some debit cards inside.
The Broward Sheriff's Office says the gunman followed her home from the Check Cashing store.
"I really don't know why someone would do that," she told CBS 4's Carey Codd. "I don't know what they were looking for. They didn't get much because I didn't have anything in my purse."
Sara says the bad guy used her debit card twice before she could cancel it. Investigators say the gunman -- along with another man and a woman were seen at the Check Cashing store earlier that day causing a disturbance. She saw them but didn't think much of it.
The victim said she is grateful the man didn't harm her but said she now lives in a constant state of fear.
"It traumatized me a lot because I'm kinda always looking over my shoulder when I come home and when I leave work," she said.
If you know who the gunman is, call Broward County Crimestoppers at (954) 493-TIPS. You can remain anonymous and you might be eligible for a reward.
