BSO: Partygoers Detained After Shots Fired In Pompano Beach
POMPANO BEACH (CBSMiami) – Several partygoers in Pompano Beach are being detained for questioning after reports of shots fired early Friday morning, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.
Someone called 911 around 5:00 a.m. to report a loud party near the 800 block of Northeast 23rd Terrace in Pompano Beach. When deputies arrived gunshots were heard.
Neighbor Chris Lestra told CBS4 he heard what sounded like fireworks.
"Cars were flying away from the house like crazy and then another cop came flying through," said Lestra.
A perimeter was set up and the area was searched. No injuries were reported.
Crime scene and violent crime detectives were on the scene and investigating the incident for several hours Friday morning.
"I slept through it, but I have 7-year-old daughters and they woke up and said 'Daddy it's Christmas lights outside' because they saw all the police cars outside the blinds," said Michael Grande who lives two doors down from where Friday's incident happened.
Grande and Lestra both told CBS4 the home at 865 NE 23rd Terrace has been a problem for several days.
"It's been going on since Saturday. It's been 40 to 50 cars at a time," said Grande. "They were climbing out the second story window and dancing on the roof."
Grande said the home recently became a rental property and he's contacted the owners.
"They don't seem to care, I guess it's an Airbnb," Grande said.
On Saturday a spokesperson for Airbnb said, "We investigated and can confirm we do not have a listing at the address."
