BSO: Five Suspects Attacked Men With Liquor Bottle, Broken Mirror
FORT LAUDERDALE (CBS4) - Five South Florida men face criminal charges -- accused of viciously beating and stabbing two men inside the victims' apartment after a party Friday night.
Surveillance video from the apartment complex provided by the Broward Sheriff's Office shows five men walk past surveillance cameras outside the complex on SW 8 Avenue in Dania Beach.
The men walk right into Jason May's apartment and are inside for about a minute. May said the men pulled him off the bed and attacked him.
"All of a sudden I look up and there's 3 guys on me and two guys on my roommate and just beating us with everything they had," May told CBS 4's Carey Codd.
Everything they had -- May said -- were their fists, pieces of a dinner plate and large mirror and a liquor bottle, which May said he was hit with.
"At first they were hitting me, hitting me, hitting me," he said. "Then he realized he could stab me so he stabbed me (in my back) two times and then he got me (on the left leg.)"
May also suffered gash on the head.
Garcia said he was hit with a dinner plate, which broke apart. He said the attackers stabbed him with broken pieces of the plate. He has defensive wounds on his hands, wrists and arms as well as several puncture wounds on his head.
"We don't understand what kind of mentality someone must have to do something like this," Garcia said. "We don't know."
May believes the whole thing was a misunderstanding. He said the men were at a party at his apartment and there was no trouble. But when the men were outside, May said a BSO deputy who was checking on the crowd, asked the men to leave.
"(The men) said we called the cops on them, which we didn't," May said.
The five men -- Julian Cantalupo, Emanuele Pariasca, Anthony Fernandez, Ryan Demars and Nicholas Law -- face serious criminal charges of armed burglary and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. A judge ordered all of the men held in jail without bond.
Jason May says his wounds will heal and he's glad his attackers weren't carrying guns. He also believes these men need to be punished.
"They made a bad decision," May said. "Now they're gonna pay for it."
