Brush Fire Quickly Extinguished In Miami-Dade
MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – Drivers in Miami-Dade County could see the smoke for miles as a brush fire ignited behind the Krome Detention Center Sunday afternoon.
The fire was fought by a combination of Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, Everglades National Park, and the Division of Forestry. Miami-Dade sent 60 firefighters and 15 units to the brush fire.
While there was residual smoke late in the afternoon Sunday, according to Griselle Marino of Miami-Dade Fire, the fire was brought under control around 1:45 p.m. and fully extinguished shortly before 3 p.m.
The Krome Detention Center was not evacuated due to the brush fire.
