Browns Have Familiar Faces For S. Florida; But 1st Rd. Pick Out Vs. Fins
CLEVELAND (CBSMiami) – The Miami Dolphins' first opponent of the season, the Cleveland Browns, will have some familiar faces for South Florida football fans; but also be missing the team's 2013 first-round NFL Draft pick.
According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Browns will not have the services of rookie outside linebacker Barkevious Mingo when the Dolphins come to town Sunday. Mingo is still recovering from a bruised lung and the team hasn't put a time-table together on when he might return.
In addition, defensive end Ahtyba Rubin is questionable for the Dolphins game after suffering a calf injury during practice. If Rubin can't go, that leaves a massive hole on the Browns' defensive line alongside defensive tackle Phil Taylor.
Miami Hurricanes fans will see a familiar face when the Browns send out the kickoff and punt return teams. Former Canes receiver Travis Benjamin is likely to return a few kickoffs and punts against the Dolphins on Sunday.
Benjamin took a kick back for a 91-yard touchdown in the preseason and also took a kick back last year for a 93-yard touchdown.
In addition to Benjamin, the Browns will use former Miami Dolphins wide receiver Davone Bess in a return role on top of his job as the slot receiver in the Cleveland offense.
