Broward Turnpike Closure Scheduled For Tuesday
POMPANO BEACH (CBSMiami) – A section of the Florida Turnpike in Broward is scheduled to be closed to traffic Tuesday night so new signage can be installed.
According to the state's Department of Transportation, all northbound and southbound lanes between Commercial Blvd (Exit 62) and Coconut Creek (Exit 67) will be closed overnight for up to three nights.
The nighttime closures will begin at 11:00 p.m. and last through 5:00 a.m on Wednesday.
On Wednesday the highway will again be closed from 11:00 p.m. to 5 a.m. DOT says closures Thursday and Friday may be needed it the work is not completed.
Northbound drivers will be detoured off the Turnpike at Commercial Blvd and then directed east to SR7 / US 441. Drivers can then re-enter the Turnpike at the Coconut Creek entrance. Southbound drivers will be detoured off the Turnpike at Coconut Creek and then directed west to SR7 / US 441. Drivers can the reenter the Turnpike at Commercial Blvd.
The sign replacement is part of the Broward widening project. The last phase of the project consists of an additional northbound lane being built between Sunrise Blvd & Atlantic Blvd and is projected to be completed this summer.
