Broward Sex Offender Arrested Again, Facing Drug Charges
HALLANDALE (CBSMiami) - A registered sex offender already out on bond for allegedly trying to have sex with a 16-year-old girl was arrested again Monday, this time for allegedly staging a crack cocaine cooking party at his home.
Hallandale Beach police arrested 57-year-old David Becker early Monday, after responding to a report of a home invasion robbery at his home. Police didn't find any evidence of a robbery, but what they did find was people cooking cocaine into crack, and then smoking the result.
Police searched Becker's home, and according to Public Information Officer Captain Pedro Abut, they found evidence of the cooking crack, as well as cocaine and marijuana residue.
Police let everyone else at the home go, according to Capt. Abut, but charged Becker with possession of cocaine and marijuana, as well as tampering with evidence, and returned him to the Broward County Jail.
Becker had originally been held there without bond after his October 22nd arrest on a charge of attempted sexual battery of a minor. Police came to his home after he reported that a woman had robbed him. When they arrived, they found the woman was 16, and they viewed what police called 'disturbing' photos of the 2 together.
A police report showed the girl said Becker helped her with her "life problems." During the evening, the teen said Becker told her he loved her and began acting "weird." The report says Becker undressed then wrapped the "victims belt around her face/mouth and began to unbutton her pants."
The victim told police Becker tore off her clothes and tried to force her to perform a sex act on him. She told detectives she was able to dress and flee the home.
Becker was ordered held on no bond following his arrest, but that changed on November 11th when a judge granted bond and Becker was released.
Records on file with the state show Becker was named a sex offender in California, following arrests in 1999. He moved to Florida and purchased a waterfront home for cash, now valued at about a half-million dollars.
