Broward Schools Receiving State Review
FORT LAUDERDALE (CBS4) - The Florida Department of Education is sending a three-member team to the Broward School District to start reviewing records and interviewing staff after a scathing grand jury report found widespread problems in the school system, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
Education commissioner Eric Smith said the team's arrival comes because he wasn't convinced by Broward's plan to deal with the problems found by the grand jury.
The team will be made up of two staffers from the Inspector General's Office and one from the facilities office, according to the Sun-Sentinel.
The mission for the team will be to give Smith all the information he needs to decide whether a full inquiry is needed of the Broward County School System, the Sun-Sentinel reported.
