Broward Salvation Army Opens Doors As Cold Weather Nears
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (CBS4) - As bone-chilling weather descends on South Florida, the Salvation Army has started to prepare to house the homeless from the dangerously cold air.
The Salvation Army of Broward County located at 1445 West Broward Blvd. is set to open its doors to homeless people who need a place to stay during the cold weather.
Normally, the Salvation Army gives shelter to roughly 160 people, but that number could rise as the cold weather settles in.
"This is where they are going to stay and hopefully it will be enough for tonight and if not, hopefully we will have other spaces fro them," said Lilly Gallaid of the Salvation Army.
The cold air is the result of a cold front moving across the area Monday afternoon and evening.
