Broward Puts Absentee Ballots In The Mail
FT. LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – "Load 'em up, move 'em out" was the order of the morning for Broward's Supervisor of Elections.
On Tuesday, election workers loaded a record of more than 110,000 absentee ballots for the November General Election onto an 18 wheeler at the Supervisor of Elections Voting Equipment Center at Lauderhill Mall.
"We're excited. We're excited about it," said Broward Supervisor of Elections Brenda Snipes. "What we are encouraging the voters to do is become familiar with the contents of the ballot."
Once loaded and secured, Snipes and a Broward Sheriff's deputy escorted it to a U.S. Postal facility in Oakland Park which began sending them out.
The sample ballot won't be mailed out until October 15th and is 8 pages long.
Tuesday also marked the final day to register for the November general election.
"The vote gives me a chance to elect the man to guide my nation," said newly registered voter Guillermo Mora.

Miami-Dade began sending out their absentee ballots last week. Approximately 177,000 were sent out on Friday.
Elections officials are expecting tens of thousands more ballots to be requested as Election Day nears.
If you are going to vote absentee, you have until the end of October to order a ballot.
Voted absentee ballots must be received by the Supervisor of Election's office no later than 7p.m. on Election Day. A voted ballot will not be accepted at a polling place.
If you requested an absentee ballot and later decide to vote at the polls, take your absentee ballot with you to be canceled at your polling place.
With increased voter interest in the "Vote by Mail" option, the Broward's Supervisor of Elections has added locations and options for voters to return their voted absentee ballots. Voters can mail the ballots at a cost of $1.50, or may choose a drop-off process at the Supervisor of Elections facilities located at:

1501 NW 40 Avenue (N. State Rd. 7/441), Lauderhill
Because of the high volume of voters using the drop-off option, the office has added the drop-off sites to include the following locations, dates and times:
