Broward Honors Centennial Citizens

FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) -- Broward County recognized citizens over 100 years old as part of the county's centennial celebrations.
Twenty-nine were honored as part of two events on Tuesday at the Government Center in Fort Lauderdale.
As part of the celebration, the citizens and their families joined in a reception and then a ceremony where Broward County commissioners honored the group.
Each received a proclamation.
The centennial citizens come from different backgrounds and had quite the tales to tell. They shared their most special memories as they reflected on 100 years of life.
"The most important thing was my wife, who died in 1990 after being married 53 years," said Jack Boss who is 101-years old.
But what is their secret to a long life?
"Exercise and food is important but the most important thing is a positive attitude and positive viewpoint," said Boss.
"Follow the rules. Take care of yourself. Don't go overboard with things," said Rose Calvina who is 100-years old.
"Dancing. I still do it now even at 101," said Albert Baron who is 100-years old.
"Every Saturday night, forget the walkers, forget the wheelchair and they're up there and they're dancing and it's fast dancing. It's the fox trot. It's amazing. I don't even dance like they do," said Lois Margolin whose father was honored.
The event marked one more fond memory to add to the countless collection.
"To me, life has been wonderful," said Boss.
