Ex-Broward Deputy Changes Plea In Drug Case
FT. LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – A former Broward Sheriff's deputy who was arrested last year after he allegedly tried to buy steroids was back in court to change his plea.
During a hearing on Wednesday, 44-year old David Agosto pled no contest to the drug charge he was facing and was sentenced 12 months of probation. The judge withheld adjudication.
Agosto, a nine year veteran of the sheriff's office, was arrested in the parking lot of an International House of Pancakes restaurant in Hollywood along with the alleged dealer 33-year old David Kader.
Officers in unmarked cars moved in after the alleged deal was completed. Steroids, a handgun and an AK47 assault rifle were found in Kader's vehicle, according to the arrest report.
The sheriff's officer terminated Agosto last April.
