Broussard: Miami Should Be Appreciative of LeBron on Christmas Because They "Stole Him"
With the Miami Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers set to clash on Christmas Day in Miami, many are wondering how LeBron James will be received by the fans that stood by his side for the last four magical seasons.
"My take has been Miami should be appreciative for the four years they got because you stole him," ESPN's Chris Broussard said on the Marc Hochman Show with Zach Krantz on WQAM. "You know that. You know that. You stole him."
Broussard went on to reflect on what the Heat accomplished during those four years, when Miami won two championships amid an incredible four consecutive NBA Finals appearances. Despite that success, he thinks the Heat failed to meet expectations.
"When they joined forces four and a half years ago, if you said they're gonna win two of the next four championships I would've thought that was a failure," he said. "I would've expected at least three.
"Now looking at the injuries with Wade and everything you say 'two out of four was good,' a little disappointing but it was good."
Recent injuries have battered the Heat this season, with Josh McRoberts out indefinitely and Chris Bosh out with a calf strain. Have the expectations lowered for this new-look Heat team?
"Well it's certainly a huge change of events for the Miami Heat," Broussard said. "Even when healthy -- and it's hard to say when healthy -- I don't think they're going to be a factor. It's just as simple as that.
"I think Miami is going to kinda be what they were before LeBron went there, a playoff team but one that goes out in the first or second round."
