Brewers Ice Marlins, 6-5
MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – The Florida Marlins may be at home after a dismal 5-4 road trip to the West Coast, but their game continues to suffer. A pinch-hit homer in the ninth inning propelled the Milwaukee Brewers to a 6-5 victory over the Fish on Friday night.
Ryan Braun hit the game-winning shot despite being held out of the starting lineup due to an ailing left shoulder. He was needed in the ninth with the Brewers down by one run.
Yuniesky Betancourt singled to right off Leo Nunez (0-2) to begin the ninth before Braun pinch-hit for pitcher Mike McClendon (3-0). Braun sent Nunez's 1-1 offering deep to left field for his 13th homer.
It was Nunez's second blown save of the season in 21 chances.
Prince Fielder homered and Corey Hart had three hits for the Brewers.
Gaby Sanchez and Mike Stanton homered for the Marlins, who have lost four of their last five.
