Boyfriend Charged With Murdering Woman, 2 Kids
WEST PALM BEACH (CBS4) – The man long suspected of killing a Delray Beach woman and her two children has officially been charged with their murders.
Clem Beauchamp was considered the lone suspect in the deaths up until now but prosecutors announced Thursday he has finally been charged with 3 counts of first-degree murder.
Beauchamp was the boyfriend of 25-year-old Felicia Brown whose body was found in a landfill last August. The bodies of her children, 10-year-old Jermaine McNeil, and 6-year-old Ju'Tyra Allen, were found stuffed in luggage in a Palm Beach County canal in March.
Prosecutors say the boy was killed by blunt force injuries to head, and the girl was killed by asphyxiation. The mother's cause of the death was not disclosed.
West Palm Beach Police Chief Delsa Bush stated: "This case is a good example of the law enforcement community working together to remove a dangerous person from society. My sympathy goes out to the victims in the case as well as my appreciation to those who have worked so hard to ensure justice will be served."
Beauchamp has been held behind bars since March after he pleaded guilty to unrelated weapons charges.
In 2009, officers found a homemade silencer inside a bag with a knit hat and a Halloween mask. Prosecutors said Felicia Brown worried she would take the fall for the gun and the silencer and agreed to cooperate against Beauchamp in the gun case and meet with a federal agent. She disappeared shortly after.
Brown's family said Beauchamp tired unsuccessfully to silence Brown and her children.
"He tried, but he didn't realize how much she was loved. He messed up," said Brown's cousin Tanicsha Lowery.
Prosecutors will seek the death penalty
