Bowling With Painted Coconuts Featured At Keys Culinary Festival
KEY WEST (CBS4) – What do painted coconuts, bowling and food have in common? The Key West Food and Wine Festival.
The annual four-day festival ends Sunday, but in the meantime festivities include bowling with brightly painted coconuts.
The festival celebrates the island's diverse and exciting culinary scene that holds events showcasing local chefs' culinary treats with indigenous Florida Keys ingredients, premium wines from around the world and games.
At Bahama Village people bowled with the coconuts, aiming at pineapple-shaped pins. There also was a coconut recipe contest and coconut treats for sampling, according to Keys spokesman Andrew Newman.
There also is wine tasting at former President Harry Truman's restored Little White House, an outdoor wine market and a "Duval Uncorked" food-and-wine stroll along Key West's famed Duval Street.
The event ends Sunday with the annual Master Chef's Classic, a tasting extravaganza and competition beside Key West Harbor.
