Bosh Comes Up Big In Game 6
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – He's often the most criticized member of the Big Three. But he's described by head coach Erik Spoelstra as the team's most important player. In Game 6 of the 2013 NBA Finals, Chris Bosh lived up to Coach Spoelstra's definition at the most important time in the contest.
Bosh started out Tuesday saying that the San Antonio Spurs' Danny Green would not be open in Game 6 of the Finals. While Green got open for one or two shots, Bosh lived up to exactly what he said at the end of overtime when he floated outside to cover Green on an inbounds pass with less than 10 seconds to go.
Green caught the pass and faded to the right and went to launch a three-point shot as time expired. But as the shot went up, Bosh's hand met the ball in mid-air and blocked the shot securing the Heat's victory and a Game 7.
But that was only one of Bosh's big moments. Just seconds earlier, Bosh had closed out quickly on Spurs guard Tony Parker and blocked a shot that could have given the Spurs an insurmountable lead.
Bosh was also instrumental at the end of regulation when he grabbed an offensive rebound over several Spurs players and quickly found Ray Allen fading back to the three-point line. Bosh hit Allen with a quick pass and Allen hit a step-back three-point shot to tie the game at 95 and send it to overtime.
"We feel grateful we have an opportunity to play for a title in a Game 7," Heat Head Coach Erik Spoelstra said. "Our guys aren't looking for games that are less meaningful. We're looking for games that are more meaningful and there's nothing bigger than a Game 7."
The Heat will live to fight for one more game and while most of the publicity will go to LeBron James, who played a phenomenal second half; Heat fans should not forget just how big Bosh came up when everything was on the line.
