Bond Denied For Man At Center Of Deadly SW Dade Domestic Dispute
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Decked out in a suicide vest, a southwest Miami-Dade man accused in the murder of his estranged wife and her bother appeared before a judge on Tuesday.
Ivan Wong, who is charged with two counts of first degree murder and three counts of attempted murder, was denied bond.
On Sunday, Dec. 29th, Wong reportedly armed himself with a handgun and went to confront his wife Mabel after he learned she was having an affair.
When he arrived at the home where she was staying, at 15940 SW 103rd Place, Wong was met by Mabel's brother, Michel Figueroa. The two got into a confrontation and Wong, 41, shot and killed Figueroa, according to his arrest report.
Wong then got into his truck and allegedly tried to run over his wife. According to the arrest report, he struck and killed his wife and also ran into three other people; Mabel Figueroa's 70-year old father Modesto Figueroa, Ernesto Cardenas and Maria Gutierrez.
"I go outside and I saw the white truck coming back and forth and people screaming," witness Carlos Carbonella told CBS4. "I can see from here a body, two bodies on the floor."
Wong then reportedly drove home and told several relatives what he had done, according to the report. They called the police and he was taken into custody.
During an interview with investigators, Wong reportedly confessed to what he had done.
