FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami/AP) — Authorities have charged a man and his girlfriend in the death of his 2-year-old daughter in November.
Larry Haynes, 34, and his 23-year-old girlfriend Amber McCray were held without bond Saturday at the Broward County jail. Each is charged with second-degree murder.
CBS4 news partner The Miami Herald reports that relatives called the Broward Sheriff's Office after finding Za'mya Williams unconscious in bed.
She was pronounced dead at a hospital Nov. 19.
Dr. Stephen Robinson, a county medical examiner, ruled Za'mya died from blunt force trauma to the abdomen and head. Robinson concluded her injuries "could not have been caused by accidental falls."
The girl's mother said she's waited months for Haynes' arrest.
