Bon Jovi: I'm Alive & Well
RED BANK, N.J. (CBS4/AP) — Jon Bon Jovi wants duped fans to know he's not dead, and he has posted a photo proving it. Bon Jovi is the latest celeb to fall victim to a social media death hoax.
False reports of the New Jersey-born musician's death spread online after a fake news release surfaced on social media sites.
But he quickly showed his sense of humor, assuring fans he was alive and well through Facebook and Twitter. He posted a photo of himself holding a sign that read, "Heaven looks a lot like New Jersey." It was dated Dec. 19, 2011, 6 p.m.
Bon Jovi was performing at a charity concert that night at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank. His publicist confirmed Bon Jovi was alive and well and playing the show.
Bon Jovi isn't the first celebrity to fall victim to fake death rumors; Scott Baio and Eddie Murphy have both recently faced rumors of their demise.
News of Kim Jong Il's death led to a bit of confusion. Some social media users thought rapper Lil' Kim had died.
