No Threat After Bomb Scare Shuts Down Miami Office Building
MIAMI (CBSMiami) –A northeast Miami-Dade office building had to be evacuated Thursday afternoon after a threat was made that a car in the parking garage of the building had a bomb.
The building, located at 10800 Biscayne Blvd, houses several businesses and the entire building was evacuated shortly before 2:30 p.m. Almost immediately, those working inside were told to leave. "Over the loudspeaker {we} heard there was an emergency and we needed to get out," said Bill Kirtland, an accountant working in the building.
The bomb squad arrived and began inspecting the car a short time after the building was evacuated. Police shut down about 20 blocks around 108th street and Biscayne Boulevard during the investigation. The bomb squad inspected the car and didn't find anything suspicious.
The all clear was given at around 6 p.m. and the road reopened, but the scare already delayed the afternoon commute for thousands.
"Its horrible its sitting forever almost ran out of gas," said Mark Lester.
Carmen Darnell, who lives in Miami Shores said a normally 20 minutes commute took her nearly four hours due to the traffic and the detour.
Police say they questioned the person who made the bomb threat. So far no charges have been filed
