Bollywood Oscars Rescheduled For Spring In Tampa
TAMPA (CBSMiami/AP) — The Indian Film Academy Awards, also known as the Bollywood Oscars will be coming to Tampa sooner than expected due to weather.
The Tampa Bay Times reports organizers of the four-day awards gala that's officially known as the International Indian Film Academy's Weekend & Awards have decided to move up the event date from June to sometime in either March or April of 2014.
Crowds and weather are the reasons for the change.
Demand for tickets has skyrocketed since July, when it was announced that Tampa would be the host city for the IIFA's signature green carpet. It's the first time the event has been held in the U.S.
Organizers anticipate at least 35,000 people will attend the main awards show, with a total of about 50,000 to 60,000 visitors in the area for concerts and other exhibits.
