Boil Water Order Remains After Water Main Break
NORTHWEST MIAMI-DADE (CBSMiami) – A boil water order is still in effect for a Miami-Dade county neighborhood after a water main break.
On Friday, CBS4 News reported that a Northwest Miami-Dade intersection was shut down and a precautionary boil water order was issued following a water main break.
According to the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department, a 12-inch water main failed in the area of NW 36th Street and 37th Avenue. The intersection has been closed with the exception of one eastbound lane on NW 36th Street.
In order to make repairs, crews shut down water in the area which led to a loss of pressure in the system.
As of Saturday, the pipe was fixed, but the road is still being repaired. That led to the boil water order.
Businesses located on NW 36th Street between 36th and 38th Avenues, including the Pinnacle Plaza, a condominium community and the Fronton Trailer Park, are affected.
All water used for drinking or cooking purposes should be boiled until further notice.
Water should be brought to a full rolling boil for at least one minute. There is no problem with using the water for bathing and other household needs.
The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department will be sampling the water. Once all tests are cleared, the boil water restrictions will be lifted.
Residents can contact the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department's Communications Center at 305-274-9272, 24 hours a day for more information.
