Boil Water Order In Effect For North Lauderdale

NORTH LAUDERDALE (CBS4) - Residents of North Lauderdale are under a precautionary boil water order due to bacteria found in one of the city's drinking water wells.

City water officials say E. Coli bacteria was found in the well which is used primarily as a back-up well and does not routinely pump to the water treatment plant. The well has been shut down and is not supplying water to the distribution system.

Now city officials are trying to determine the source of the contamination and take corrective measures to ensure the water supply is protected against contamination.

NORTH LAUDERDALE (CBS4) - North Lauderdale city officials issued the boil water order only as a precaution and it will remain in effect until tests show that the water is safe to drink. Until that time, all water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, washing dishes or brushing teeth should be boiled for at least one minute. Bottled water is also another alternative.
