Boil Water Alert Lifted For Margate, Coconut Creek
MARGATE (CBSMiami) — The boil water alert for all of Margate and those in Coconut Creek south of the Coconut Creek Parkway was lifted early Saturday evening.
The advisory was lifted after bacteria testing samples showed the water is safe to drink. Still, the Broward County Health Department suggests residents allow water to run for five minutes at each tap to flush the lines with safe water. The agency also recommends discarding the first batch of ice from ice bins.
The City of Margate ordered the boil water notice on Friday when one of the samples from the city's wells tested positive for fecal indicators.
The well was immediately removed from service and shut off. The boil water alert was lifted as a result of two consecutive days of samples collected for bacteriological testing returned negative.
