Boca Raton Cops Find Grow House In Robbery Victim's Garage

BOCA RATON (CBS4) - A Boca Raton man who was beaten during a home invasion robbery was arrested after police reportedly found a marijuana grow house in his garage.

Around 9:30 p.m. Friday night police said they received a call about a possible robbery in 1500 block of SW 16 Street at approximately 9:30 p.m. about a possible home invasion robbery. The caller told dispatchers their neighbor, Dana Carvello, was the victim.

When officers arrived, they met with Carvello and his girlfriend, Anita Molina. The couple told police that they had just arrived home from Mizner Park when Carvello went out the rear slider to smoke. While he was outside, three to five males approached him, hit him several times and then forced him back inside the house.

Once inside the armed men demanded jewelry and guns. Police said the robbers tied up Carvello in the living room then forced Molina and their child into a bedroom. Carvello, who was briefly left alone, was able to escape the house and run to his neighbor's house where they called the police.

The suspects left with an undetermined amount of jewelry and a Nintendo Wii.

Carvello was taken to Boca Raton Regional Hospital where he was treated for injuries to his head and face. During a search of Carvello's home, officers said they found the marijuana grow house in the garage. Carvello has been charged with cultivation of marijuana and child neglect.
