Romney Blimp Makes Emergency Landing In Davie Field
DAVIE (CBS4) – A blimp sporting a picture of Mitt Romney and the slogan "America Needs Romney" on its side was force to make an emergency landing in a Davie field Sunday evening.
Just after 7 p.m. the pilot brought the 160-foot craft down in the 9100 block of SW 36th Street, near the Robert H. Bamford Sports Complex. He and a passenger were not hurt.
Davie police said the blimp, which left an airport in Boca Raton, was headed for the North Perry Airport in Pembroke Pines when the pilot encountered strong winds which pushed the blimp in the opposite direction that it was trying to go. The pilot reportedly decided to bring it down before they were pushed any farther off course.
The FAA has launched an investigation into the incident.
