Bills Vs. Dolphins 2014 NFL Week 11 Odds, Predictions & Betting Picks ATS Preview

By Abraham Gutierrez

Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, will be the site for a pivotal AFC East division showdown between the Buffalo Bills and the Miami Dolphins in W22k 11 of the 2014 NFL season. Opening kickoff is scheduled for Thursday night at 8:30 p.m. Eastern Time and it will be broadcast live on NFL Network.

According to NFL Week 11 oddsmakers, the Dolphins come into this game favored to even the season series with the Bills at one win apiece. The most recent NFL point spreads indicate that Miami (-5) is a five-point favorite over a visiting Buffalo (+5) squad who will enjoy a five-point cushion in the ATS (against-the-spread) department.

In addition, the OVER/UNDER for this intradivisional clash is set at a combined total of 42 points, which means defense will certainly play a role in the outcome of the ballgame. Finally, alternate straight-up (SU) betting lines have the Buffalo Bills as +190 underdogs and the Miami Dolphins value tallies -220 this week.

While the Bills and Dolphins enter Week 11 of the 2014 NFL season with mirroring 5-4 records, statistically the Fins appear to be slightly a better ATS choice than their longtime counterparts. Not only does Joe Philbin’s team is currently have a better ATS record than Doug Marrone’s bunch – 5-4 vs. 4-5 respectively – but, on paper, Miami also matches up very well against Buffalo.

From a pure head-to-head standpoint, the Dolphins have statistically owned the Bills, outperforming them in six of the seven main statistical categories in the National Football League. Mathematically, Miami has an edge in the following facets of the game: Points per game, yards gained, yards allowed, time of possession, Red Zone efficiency and in penalties.

The lone area in which Buffalo has bested the Fins thus far in the 2014 NFL season has been on special teams, which certainly isn’t a deal-breaker. Perhaps these figures justify the fact that, as of Wednesday morning, a whopping 59 percent of the betting action favors a Miami ATS cover, compared to only 41 percent who believe otherwise.

But that’s not the only statistical data that suggests Miami is the smart bet to make come Sunday afternoon in South Florida. Head-to-head ATS trends dictate that the betting favorite is 6-1 ATS in the last seven meetings between these clubs, and that the home team is 4-1 ATS in their last five matchups.
