Billick: There's Nothing in Pats Organization "Belichick Doesn't Know About"
Former NFL head coach Brian Billick joined WQAM this morning to give some insight on the bizarre scandal involving the New England Patriots and deflating footballs as Super Bowl XLIX nears.
"There is nothing that goes on in this organization that Bill Belichick doesn't know about," Billick said on the Joe Rose Show. "And this is the hard part because whether it makes a difference or not is immaterial, whether it's at 10 pounds or 14 pounds.
"The rule is very specific and if this indeed happened it's not accidental. Someone had to willfully deflate the balls for the obvious reasons that have been talked about and that's disturbing."
Some current and former players have been saying everyone messes with the balls, but Billick labels that line of thinking as "offensive."
"Someone had to willfully -- after the officials had checked the ball -- alter the ball in a way that's illegal," Billick said. "To me that's an egregious offense."
Belichick held a press conference this morning, saying he was "shocked" to learn about the reports of the doctored balls.
