Bieber Felt Need For Speed On Night Of Miami Beach Arrest

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Apparently pop singer Justin Bieber felt the need for speed the night of his arrest last month on Miami Beach.

According to TMZ.com, the "Biebs" was doing more than 130 mph on the Julia Tuttle Causeway in a rented Lamborghini just hours before his arrest.

The celeb website reportedly obtained the full GPS speed read out from the car – its map corresponds to the read out.

On January 23rd, at 1:23 a.m., it shows the car on the causeway as Bieber was headed toward the Set night club. He was clocked at 108 MPH and within a minute he accelerated to 136 MPH, according to the celeb website.

Bieber arrived at Set at 2:27 AM, stayed an hour and then drove away.

After his arrest, Miami Beach police claimed Bieber was drag racing on Pine Tree Drive with R & B singer Khalil Amir Sharieff. The read out, however, shows otherwise. According to TMZ.com, in the middle of the so-called drag race, he was cruising at 27 MPH -- under the speed limit.

Bieber was arrested for DUI, driving with a suspended license and resisting arrest. Sharieff was arrested for DUI.

Investigators say the 19-year-old told police he had some alcohol, smoked pot and had taken some prescription drugs prior to his encounter with police. Breath tests showed Bieber's blood alcohol content below the .02 threshold for underage drivers. But police say a toxicology test detected the presence of marijuana and Xanax in his system.

A trial date of March 3rd has been set in Miami-Dade County Court. Beiber's attorney, Roy Black, previously filed a written plea of not guilty.
