Biden Visits Orlando Restaurant To Back Murphy For Senate
ORLANDO, Fla. (CBSMiami/AP) — Vice President Joe Biden says Florida Congressman Patrick Murphy has the ability to work with Republicans and that is why he is backing him.
Biden and Murphy visited a downtown Orlando restaurant Thursday just outside of Senate opponent U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson's district. The Democrats are running to fill the seat Republican Marco Rubio is giving up.
In a brief conversation with reporters, Biden said his endorsement isn't a knock on Grayson but rather a belief that Murphy can work with Republicans.
Biden said senators from both parties need to talk and compromise.
Murphy agreed and said his goal is to find common ground with Republicans.
Murphy also has the backing of President Barack Obama, Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid and other establishment Democrats.
