The Miami Learning Center has two camps that are sure to please both teens and parents. The summer camp features FCAT preparation along with daily activities that include lifestyle, fitness, fun and two field trips over a 10-week period. The study abroad camp takes your child away for one week while you bask in the bliss of their absence. For the last three years, the center has taken teens to Costa Rica or Washington, D.C. The destination for this year hasn't been set yet but enrollment for each program normally begins around April.

Seacamp is an 18-day, overnight camp that teaches your teen ages 12 to 17 hands-on marine biology by snorkeling and scuba diving their way through the Florida Keys. There are also marine labs and classes to make sure that your teen learns. Go online to apply for admittance to one of the three sessions the camp holds. The first session starts in June but you should apply by April at the latest.

This isn't Jack Black's "School of Rock" and this isn't a guitar hero's wannabe rocker camp. This a real camp for teens who want to learn to play guitar, bass, keyboards, drums or sing vocals. The lessons take place on weekdays and the camp duration ranges from five to 10 days with attendance costing about $100 per day. Depending on the sessions your children choose, they can learn Latin rock, classic rock and even some of today's rock. Beginners are more than welcome to participate in this totally awesome summer camp.

Camp Live Oak is one of the few Florida camps with a genuine American Camping Association accreditation, and it has a location in North Miami Beach and in Fort Lauderdale to offer two nature-friendly programs for teens. The eco experience program for teens is for ages 14 to 15 and is a week and a half long. It includes a leadership program that focuses on building your teen's leadership skills as well as educate them about the environment. The scuba diving camp is for children ages 13 to 16 and includes a 35-hour scuba certification course held at the Bahia Mar Resort and Marina in Fort Lauderdale. It's sure to please the nature-loving teen.

If your teen is a techie, you'll want him to do something else besides play games all summer. So enroll him in the Internal Drive Tech Camp at the University of Miami. Teens up to 17 years of age can either take the day camp or overnight camp and study computer programming, filmmaking, game design and app creation. Camps last for a week and feature other activities for overnighters like movies and sports activities. So sign your kid up and instead of playing games, he'll be creating one.
