Best Places For Fine Irish Whiskey In Miami

How do non-Irish people celebrate St. Patty's day? They drink. Irish people? They drink more. Whether or not you're Irish, here are the top five spots for your St. Patrick's Day celebration – Irish whiskey style.

This spot offers nine different types of Irish whiskey, from Black Bush to Tullamore Dew. Tucked into in the second floor of Hallandale's relatively new sidewalk shopping mall, The Village at Gulfstream, the pub also serves up $5 happy hour fare, which includes chicken strips and a mini hamburger. While knocking back a Powers Irish whiskey, enjoy various sports displayed on overhead projectors. This Irish Pub is a celebrity hotspot too; NFL Hall of Fame running back Marshall Faulk made an appearance here last August.

Choose from 13 different varieties of Irish whiskey, including Midleton Very Rare, a select blend with no more than 100 casks in existence each year. Midleton Very Rare is considered one of the best in Irish whiskey. Irish whiskey cocktails at Fado include "The Pickelback," which consists of Bushmills Irish whiskey and a pickle brine chaser and "Liquid Craic," which has Red Breast Irish whiskey, Guinness and coffee liqueur served in a martini glass. The cocktails are $5 during the weekday happy hour, which starts at 5 p.m. Pair it with a small plate, which features steak skewers and other selections for as little as $3.

This pub features 10 drinks with Irish whiskey, from straight whiskey like 18-year-old aged Jameson to an Irish Hooker cocktail, which consists of Jameson Irish whiskey, Bailey's Irish Cream, Irish Mist, Kahlua and Frangelico. Night owls are welcome – the bar is open daily until 3 a.m.

Downtown Fort Lauderdale's premier Irish spot has four types of whiskey and Irish Mist whiskey liqueur, the first ever liqueur produced in Ireland back in the 1940s. Fresh off a renovation, this pub also offers live music every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday night in addition to extensive menu of Irish fare, including corned beef and cabbage.

This place specializes in Jameson Irish Whiskey; a bottle is even featured in the restaurant's logo graphic. Throw in live music and a lucky lunch, which features any sandwich on the menu for $5.55 (isn't 7 a luckier number?), and you have plenty to drink to. Jameson Irish whiskey originated in 1780, that's what, 232 St. Patrick's Day's ago?
