Best Miami Bars For The 40-Something Crowd

With a bar scene as large and diverse as Miami's, there is a place for everyone. Luckily so, because no one wants to walk into an establishment to surprisingly discover that they are 20 years older than the average bar-goer or vice versa. Some of the best bars in Miami are actually also some of the best bars to frequent if you are part of the 40-something crowd. -- Kimberly Porter

Bargello Bistro is located in the Falls shopping mall. Due to its proximity to residential neighborhoods and its all day, every day Happy Hour, Bargello's is a hot spot with the 40-something crowd. It is brightly colored with a warm atmosphere and outdoor dining on the patio. This modern bistro serves food with a Mediterranean influence and has many appetizers and drinks for $6 or less. The drink list is perhaps best known for its signature martinis - though there is also an extensive selection of margaritas, mojitos, beer and wine.

Little Hoolie's is a laid-back sports bar and grill that has been a staple in Miami for as long as most people can remember. Tucked away in the corner of a strip mall, if you didn't know Little Hoolie's was there you might not even notice it. However, people obviously have the location down, because the inside is always packed with people playing pool, listening to live music on the weekends, singing karaoke or watching sporting events on one of the 30 televisions. The food is bar-style and simple, including burgers and wings. The bar is fully stocked and Happy Hour runs weekdays, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Hours: Weekdays, 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.; Weekends, 11 a.m. to 3 a.m.

Town Kitchen & Bar

7301 SW 57th Court
South Miami, Fla. 33143
(305) 740-8118
www.townkitchenbar.com

Town Kitchen & Bar has been called "the best restaurant in South Miami" by the Miami NewTimes. It is a contemporary, upscale establishment that, while praised for its food, is also a meeting place for the 40-something crowd to imbibe in drinks and socializing. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and late night food, and the bar is open daily from 11:30 a.m. until the last person leaves. With 17 signature cocktails on the menu, that might be pretty late. Try the Towntini - Absolut Mandarin vodka with fresh juices - or the bartender's special Gwen's Lychee Mutha' Freaker - with Flor de Cana Limon, lychee puree, fresh lemon and lime.
