Best Local Actors In South Florida

South Florida is a magnet for celebrities looking for short stints in paradise, but some of the rich and famous actually call South Florida Home. Here are some of the top celebrities with strong South Florida ties.

Jeffrey Donovan

Jeffrey Donovan plays Michael Westen on USA Network's Burn Notice. Unlike other shows that claim to be Miami based but are mostly filmed in Los Angeles, Burn Notice is only shot on locations in South Florida. Donovan and the rest of the cast are Miami residents and spotted all the time at coffee shops and banks in Downtown Miami. The show was renewed for it's fifth and sixth seasons in April, 2010.

Jeff Garlin

World renowned comedian and actor Jeff Garlin is a graduate of Fort Lauderdale's Nova High School. He started out performing stand-up comedy in South Florida and you can often catch him recapping his experiences on Big 105.9 with local radio legends Paul and Young Ron. You may recognize him from his role on 'Curb Your Enthusiasm,' or,  'Daddy Daycare.'

Josie Loren

Josie Loren plays Kaylie Cruz on the ABC Family series, 'Make It or Break It.' South Florida born Loren is of Cuban descent and attended New World School of the Arts in Miami. Her family lives in the area and she comes home to see them whenever she can. Josie has also appeared on shows like Hannah, 'Montana,' and, 'Medium.'

Rosie O'Donnell

Although she has not starred in any major roles recently, Rosie O'Donnell is a name recognized in homes around the country. She owns a home on Star Island, a man-made island located in Miami Beach on Biscayne Bay.  Shaquille O'Neal, Emilio and Gloria Estefan, and Julio Iglesias are among the other stars who own luxury homes on the exclusive island.
